Akram

Q: What did you do in Iran for work?

A:
I was a Mechanical Engineer in Iran.

Q: How long have you been in Canada?

A:
I arrived in February this year, two weeks before everything closed.

Q: What brought you to Canada?

A:
My son was attending a boarding school and the conditions were not good.

Q: How did you feel the first day you arrived in Canada?

A:
Powerful. My son had been here two years and I felt powerful to be with my son and to create better opportunities for him.

Q: What are your goals?

A:
My goal in life is to create a better life for my son.

Q: What are some difficulties you face?

A:
I work 3 jobs and sewing is the best. I didn't know anything about sewing. In Iran we learn to sew in school, but I never used it. My husband would sometimes sew to mend our clothes at home.

Q: What do you like about living in Canada?

A:
All of the hardship was necessary. Now looking back this has been a good experience. I have good Iranian and Canadian friends. I like Vancouver for it's blue sky and very little pollution.

Q: What do you miss about Iran?

A:
My husband, my mother, and my brothers.

Q: How can Abel help you and your family now and in the future?

A:
Currency is difficult, I need to make more money, build confidence and get more information. Bigger projects and more orders.
